Who hasn’t dreamed of exploring the vast wilderness or rich culture of the African continent? However, each person’s dream is unique from the next, so we asked the experts at andBeyond for their 5 favorite experiences to whet our imaginations and perhaps plan our next adventure.
Tour operators that manage their impact, care for nature, and give back to local communities... sound too good to be true? It shouldn’t. Today’s luxury is about knowing your actions are leaving a positive legacy.
For 15 years, luxury experiential travel company andBeyond has been operating with this ethos. Their core values, stated right on their homepage, include “Care of the Land, Care of the Wildlife and Care of the People”. Under these, they carry out innumerable projects each year, from establishing protected areas and reintroducing endangered species (like the black rhino), to spearheading conservation research and empowering rural communities. And their passion is infectious; guests come away with not only memories for a lifetime, but renewed awe and respect for the planet and its inhabitants.
Conservation Director Les Carlisle, has been with the company since day one, and has been instrumental in many of the company’s community partnerships and conservation projects. He embodies the company values, and when asked, puts it succinctly: “We believe that Africa’s heritage of wild land and animals should be recognised as the continent’s most precious natural resource.”
With multiple awards to their name and a reputation for exceptional service, andBeyond has proven the model for doing business ethically. They attribute the success to their guests: “just by travelling with us, each and every guest leaves a legacy and allows us to continually care for our planet’s land, wildlife and people.”
With this in mind, we are delighted to share ten of andBeyond’s most extraordinary experiences in Africa.
