Sustainable Seafood and Vegetarian Options at The Cityview’s New Restaurant

A brand new Thai-style concept restaurant has opened at The Cityview, an Earthcheck silver certified hotel in Hong Kong’s Yau Ma Tei district.  Located in the lobby of The Cityview, the environment is relaxing with a garden themed setting, coupled with a tree wall that was created and managed by the hotel’s own hotel staff.  Amazing offers a wide selection of vegetarian options as well as numerous sustainable seafood items.
We started with a refreshing Homemade Lemon Bitter-don’t worry, it’s much more delicious than it sounds!  This cooling drink is made with kaffir limes which helps quench thirst and is perfect to go along with the Prawn and Pomelo Salad, a spicy and juicy combination of fresh Thai pomelo and prawns with a homemade sauce featuring Thai red pepper powder, coconut sugar and lime juice, topped with a sprinkle of peanuts.  Grilled skewers, including fresh scallops and juicy zucchini, top our list at Amazing.  The chef prepares dishes to order on an iron griddle in the open kitchen and multiple sauces, including our favorite-peanut sauce, accentuating the homemade Thai element of the restaurant.  Not to be missed is the Tum Yum Soup made with lime, citronella, red pepper, finger pepper and galangal that quickly spiced up our taste buds.  There’s no shortage of spiciness with the Green Curried Cod Fillet which is perfect along side a simple bowl of rice or the pan-fried prata.  No Thai meal is complete without the Mango Sticky Rice, a chewy and satisfying dessert topped with silky smooth coconut cream, but our favorite is definitely the Baby Coconut Milk Pudding, a light dessert made with sweet coconut water and milk that involves placing the mixture into a coconut shell and heating it for 15-20 minutes before freezing it and adding a sprinkle of coconut flesh.
Amazing is located at: G/F, The Cityview, 23 Waterloo Road, Kowloon.  Tel: + 852-2783-3268.  For more information, visit:
