Nestled at North Plaza, Discovery Bay, MOW is an unique grooming and skincare spa that offers facials, massages and barber services, so for men reading or ladies whose significant others are looking for a place to cater to men’s grooming, this is the place to be.  We took a ferry ride from Central followed by a quick ride on DB’s free shuttle bus and arrived in just under an hour.  Located right by the seaside, the spa looks like an outdoor café on the outside but once we stepped inside, we were surrounded by a variety of eco-friendly and organic skincare products, many of which are only found at MOW in Hong Kong.  We tried a facial and body massage using VOYA products, an Irish brand that uses hand-harvested, UK Soil Association and USDA certified organic seaweed as a key ingredient in all of its products.  VOYA grew out of a successful family-run seaweed baths business in Ireland and now has a full range of seaweed-based organic products.  The amazing thing about seaweed is that it naturally absorbs minerals and vitamins from the sea and when used on our bodies, helps remove toxins while transferring the absorbed nutrients to us.

Jaryn, our massage therapist, is an expert.  She knew exactly which of our muscles were tense just with a few touches.  We opted for the one hour sports massage using Voya massage oil which has the signature seaweed Fucus Serratus to renew damaged skin cells and add elasticity to our skin while combating cellulite and anti-ageing.  Jaryn was amazing with the massage, working with her thumbs, hands and elbows in just the right spots.  The hour-long massage ended just too quickly!  This was followed by the facial which started off with a thorough cleansing of our face using the Cleanse and Mend cleansing crème with organic lavender and chamomile, leaving our skin cleansed and soft without stripping it of natural oils.  Jaryn cooled off our skin using the Ritzy Spritzy toner, after which our face felt refreshed and cool with botanical herbs and essential oils.  Then came the fun part-the seaweed face mask.  She first mixed the seaweed powder with hot water, and the entire room smelled like a seaweed filled beach.  When Jaryn started smoothing by face with the seaweed paste, I felt like I was in the middle of the ocean, breathing in the smell of fresh seaweed.  The facial ended with the nourishing Dreme Crème, rich in almond oil and blended with algae extract.  We felt completely renewed and our skin was silky soft from the experience.
