In HK this weekend!
Greenpeace vessel stops by HK on “Save Energy for Our Future” tour

The Rainbow Warrior – a symbol of hope and endurance. For years, Greenpeace has brought the world leading environmental news, straight from the source of the action. In 2011, the Rainbow Warrior II made its final voyage around Asia, and just last October, Greenpeace’s Esperanza ventured into Hong Kong waters as part of an awareness campaign to educate people of the major threats to our oceans’ health. Now, the new Rainbow Warrior, built entirely from Greenpeace supporter donations, is making her first journey to Hong Kong!

As part of the “Save Energy for Our Future” tour, the new Rainbow Warrior will be docking in Hong Kong this weekend (June 22-23) to educate people on how to help save our planet. This is a unique opportunity to engage with the ship, one of the most environmentally friendly campaigning ships of its kind. The Rainbow Warrior is:

  • Fast and reliable: capable of traveling as fast as many industrial vessels and equipped with action boats that can be deployed in minutes, this enables Greenpeace to stop illegal fishing operations and shipments of illegal wood.
  • A base for science: top-notch scientists can work on board with the Rainbow Warrior able to carry specialized equipment weighing up to 8 tons.
  • A floating communications hub: live footage from scenes of environmental crimes can be streamed directly to the world with the on-board satellite communications system.
  • Environmental friendly: the ships sails primarily under wind power, and many energy efficiency measures have been taken, such as the re-use of engine heat to make hot water and warm the cabins
