Sometimes we need to just take a moment - or an hour, or a morning, or a day - to find our balance and push on through a long week, or a tough time, or a stressful situation. It's amazing the difference that tuning in AND tuning out can each make, in their own way, to one's sanity,

Being eco-friendly and appearing 'cool' to the average mod-culture consumer used to be, to some extent, mutually exclusive. You either wore hemp and hand-me-downs or you were clad in the latest brands each new season. You either drove a fuel-efficient hatchback or had a shiny gas-guzzling SUV. Cool was about excess, ten years ago.
 
Now, mainstream culture has come back around to what I've alway thought was cool - and it's all about sustainability, at the end of the day. Vintage clothes. Farmer's markets. Organic spas. Hybrid vehicles.  Handmade, local, fair trade, artisan, upcycled, eco chic, vegan… these aren't only the jargon of the deep green tree huggers. They're buzzwords. They're the new cool, and they're here to stay.
 
Case in point: recently on a visit to a popular Mexican fast food spot in London, we spotted this text on the napkins -

I was lucky enough to be able to visit the Sai Kung Country Park over the weekend, to hike stage 2 of the beautiful Maclehose Trail.
 
It was a glorious day! Clear skies, the perfect temperature (perhaps a little too warm - the prospect of a dip in the ocean at the end of it all wasn't a bad consolation prize though, mind you) - it was fantastic to reconnect with nature and challenge our bodies a little.
 
An hour or so into the hike, we found ourselves walking alongside the still waters of Wong Shek Pier - and also found ourselves confronted with thousands of pieces of floating rubbish. Plastic bags dangling from mangroves, bottles, plastic string, packaging and pieces of clothing - thousand and thousands of rightly coloured specs that sent shivers down our spine. It was like seeing the Great Pacific Garbage Patch - right here on our doorstep. This was just one small section of one small catchment, of less than 0.000001% of the ocean - and no...

Well, here we are... Ecozine has arrived, and in style. This coming Tuesday, May 27, 2014, Eozine will officially launch to the public!
 
I keep thinking it's a dream and I'll wake up soon! But, honestly, it seems like not only the past few months but indeed my entire existence has been leading up to this. Although I didn't know it, the pieces have been falling into place for a long time. It feels utterly surreal - and yet completely natural, and perfectly timed.
 
To get you up to speed: despite having only soft-launched in October, 2012, Ecozine is already an established household name in Hong Kong. We are now a proud environmental media platform that includes:

• A ‘Weekly Wisdom’ e-newsletter with over 18,000 opt-in subscribers;
